This design is called “marimo”. A marimo is a tiny, velvety sphere of green algae that grows only in one place in the world: Lake Akan, in Hokkaidō, Japan. The lake’s gentle waves roll the algae over and over, shaping it into a perfect ball across many quiet years. They’re seen as small guardians of calm, slow, patient, softly alive, carrying the hush of a northern lake inside them. That’s why marimo are considered a natural wonder of Japan: underwater creatures of patience, shaped by a single lake’s rhythm.

Wanderlust has created the Marimo Glass Pen to bring a touch of this tiny, magical creature to your desk, a little calm and cuteness for your journaling moments. The pen is crafted in collaboration with Hanabi Glass Studio, in Yokohama. And because real marimo are considered plants and cannot be exported, the “marimo” inside each pen is handmade by Esther Molina using natural fibers and so much love.

This glass pen shape has a simple design, allowing a comfortable grip and effortless writing experience. Its weight is light with a good balance.

The pen's nib is meticulously shaped to provide smooth and consistent ink flow. It has eight channels with a little twist, what allows to hold a bit more ink. The fine tip ensures a smooth feeling in every stroke, making it ideal for calligraphy, lettering, drawing or simply adding a touch of sophistication and fun to your everyday writing.

Despite its delicate appearance, the glass pen is surprisingly durable. Crafted from sturdy borosilicate glass, it is resistant to scratches and cracks, ensuring long-lasting performance. With proper care, this pen will be your faithful companion for years to come. Please, avoid the pen from falling or being hit. If your nib broken by an accident, we offer free repair (but shipping both ways will be charged to the customer).
